Adding and Editing Pages

Complexity Level: Basic to Advanced

Overview

This section shows you how to add new pages to your website, change existing pages, and organize your content. Pages are the building blocks of your website - they're what visitors see when they click around your site. With the Springboard, you can easily create and update pages without needing any technical knowledge.

When to Use This Feature

You'll use page management when you want to:

  • Add a new page to your website
  • Update information on an existing page
  • Create a draft of changes before making them public
  • Use a template to create pages with a consistent look
  • Set up a redirect page to automatically send visitors to another page

Step-by-Step Instructions

Viewing Your Website Pages

  1. Sign in to your Springboard account at my.firespring.com.
  2. Click My Website in the left hand menu.

  2. Fill in the Page info:

    • Title: Enter a name for your page (this will appear in the site navigation on your website, and in your site structure).

  1. Click the gear icon next to the page you want to redirect.

  2. Click Edit page info.

  3. In the Page info section locate Page redirect.

  4. Toggle to your preferred redirect type:

    • To a page on another site: Enter your Page URL and toggle to your preferred Redirect code.
    • To another page on your site: Choose your Site structure and Site page using the dropdown menus. Toggle to your preferred Redirect code.
    • To a downloadable file: Click Select File to choose your file, then toggle to your preferred Redirect code.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save & Finish.

Your redirect is now active. When someone tries to visit the source URL, they'll automatically be sent to the destination URL.

Tips & Helpful Guidance

  • Save your work often to avoid losing changes if your computer has problems.
  • Use drafts when making big changes so you can perfect your page before visitors see it.
  • Preview your changes by clicking the View Page button to see how they look on your live site.
  • Keep page titles short and clear so visitors understand what the page is about.
  • Use templates for pages that should have a similar look (like product pages or staff bios).
  • If buttons appear grayed out, it might mean you don't have permission to use that feature - check with your website administrator.
  • Your site structure (the list of pages) shows how your pages are organized - pages can be inside sections, or standalone. Subsections are sections nestled within another section.

Troubleshooting

Problem: You can't find the page you want to edit

Solution:

  • Check if you're looking in the right section. Pages can be nested inside other sections.
  • Use the search box at the top of the site structure to search for your page by name.
  • Try clicking the Expand All button in the top right corner of your site structure to see all website pages.

Problem: Your changes aren't showing up on your live website

Solution:

  • Check for a Draft icon next to the Springboard page you're working on to see if you are making changes on a draft. You can preview your draft by clicking the green View Draft button.
  • If you are working on a draft, you need to click Publish draft in the top right corner to publish your draft before it will be visible on your live website.
  • Try refreshing your website in a new browser tab to see the latest version.

Problem: You can't add or edit content

Solution:

  • Check your permissions with your website administrator.
  • If your website is undergoing a Design Change, your content may be locked so you can focus on your new design. Double check that you are on the correct Site Structure before editing.
  • If your permissions are correct, and you still can't add or edit content, reach out to Firespring Support.

Problem: A template isn't working correctly

Solution:

  • Try selecting a different template to see if other templates are working. You can do this on a draft page so you don't affect the page you're working on.
  • Contact Firespring support if the template still does not work.
