How to Connect Fundraising Tools¶
Complexity Level: Basic to Advanced
Overview¶
This page helps you connect donation and matching gift tools to your website in the Springboard.
In this page, you will do two main things:
- Connect a sitewide fundraising account, such as Double the Donation or Bloomerang, to benefit from services you might already be using.
- Add an embedded form so people can donate, register, or search for matching gifts on a page.
You can also decide when to use these tools instead of only using Springboard’s built-in fundraising campaign numbers.
Words used on this page
- Account: Your organization’s space in Springboard.
- Menu: The list of choices you click to move around Springboard.
- Page: One screen in Springboard, like a form or a list.
- Sitewide: A setting that works across your whole website.
- Embed: A form or button placed directly on a page.
- Dashboard: A summary screen with numbers and quick links.
Understanding Why These Tools Help¶
Connecting fundraising tools can help you:
- Accept donations with a service your organization is already utilizing, keeping people on your site to donate.
- Add matching gift search so donors can double their gift.
- Connect your donor list with the fundraising platform you already use.
Understanding When to Use These Tools Instead of Only Built-In Fundraising¶
Springboard’s built-in fundraising tools are great for quickly checking progress:
- Fundraising Campaigns allow you to count donations toward a specific goal, and display progress to donors on your site with a Fundraising Progress Bar.
- The Fundraising Campaigns dashboard widget gives you a quick glance at fundraising data as soon as you login to your Springboard.
- The Fundraising Campaigns report helps you easily export campaign data.
- Integrated Payment Gateways allow your donors to set up recurring donations, so they can give regularly without hassle.
External fundraising tools do a different job:
- They allow you to integrate tools your organization is already using with your website, to make it easier to collect donation data.
- They can provide an easy matching gift search to double donations.
- They can connect directly to pre-existing donor platform workflows.
Most organizations use both:
- Use Springboard built-in campaign views to monitor and report.
- Use external fundraising tools to make collecting data easier on your team.
When You Would Use This¶
Use this section if you need to:

Tips & Helpful Guidance¶
- Use short, clear titles so your team can identify accounts quickly.
- Add one fundraising tool at a time, then test before adding another.
- Only one form can exist on a Springboard page. This includes embedded forms and Springboard forms. If you are having issues with an embedded form, double check that it is the only form on the page.
- Keep one main donation path per page so visitors do not get confused.
- Use matching gift search on high-traffic donation pages for better results.
- If you do not see add or edit controls, ask your website's Primary Admin to review your permissions.
Troubleshooting¶
Problem: The Add External Account button is missing¶
Solution:
- Your role may be view-only in this area.
- Ask your website's Primary Admin to upgrade your permissions, or make changes on your behalf.
Problem: The embedded form is not displaying as expected¶
Solution:
- Check that your Third-Party Embed is the only form on the page. This includes Springboard forms. Only one form can exist on a page.
- Check if the third-party embed is displaying a message about connecting an External Account as well. Some embedded form options with third-party embed will only work if you've added the platform as an External Account as well.
- Check that your Third-Party Embed is set to Active.
